Overcoming Challenges

During my college final research assignment was one of the most resilient time in my life. I was balancing a full study load at the time. I was focused and aspiring but I was also overextended. Testing my limits and changing my knowledge to become a powerful person was a big challenge. I was well into my research project at the halfway point of the semester. Suddenly my laptop which contained all of my project work and research data crashed. I still recall the lowering feeling in my stomach as I attempted to recover my files but was unable to. It felt like weeks of tiresome work were gone in a moment. When it happened, I was in the college library and surrounded by the muted sounds of other students in the library. I was originally filled with fear and hopelessness. My closest friend tried to comfort me. However, the seriousness was too great. My academic future seemed to be giving way in front of my eyes. My decision to not let this setback define who I was was the turning point. After taking a deep breath, I asked for help. My professor helped me save my project and was really kind. My research project was to rewrite and experiment again many times in the computer lab. I continued to move forward despite my periods of annoyance and weariness. My teacher and fellow students' support was invaluable. They helped me remember that it takes trials to overcome barriers and that I can succeed even when I fail. I thought upon how I handled the situation. My understanding of being resilient has been improved by this experience. I found strength within that I did not know I had. My personality was changed by this experience making me more creative and determined. It also change the way I felt about things showing me the significance of planning ahead and the strength of a strong support system. I use these ideas to everything I do in my life now. I think back to that moment every time I come across a challenge and continue to move on with the same power. My life has improved as a result of this experience and I am now more resilient and flexible when I am faced with problems. The end of the semester I felt a sense of success when I turned in my research assignment that went past a grade. I learned from this experience to not just how to be resilient but also how important it is to never give up and to ask for support when necessary. I found drive in the way I had managed the problem and my teacher commended my stronger effort. Looking back I see how important this challenge was to my life. It changed how I reached out issues and increased my self-confidence in my skills. I started taking courage more and always double-checked my work and make backup plans. This event has uncreased my empathy for people going through bad times which has made me understand more and helpful. This period continues to have an impact on my life. Now that you've learned about my story, I encourage you to take the time to be patient and kind to yourself and to others. You never know what someone is going through so make sure that you are being a good person to everyone, especially yourself.
